Snowflock: Virtual Cluster Technology for Bioinformatics Applications
Poster at the 16th Annual International Conference Intelligent Systems for Molecular Biology (ISMB), Toronto, ON, January 2008
Virtual machines (VMs) are widely used to share hardware compute and storage resources among many users. In bioinformatics, typical applications leverage grid computing, where tasks are run in parallel on many machines (a cluster). Snowflock provides dynamic cloning of individual VMs into virtual clusters for bioinformatics grid computing.
